If you need an own internet address (domain) for your project, we can register the desired domain for you with our provider. Under the domain you can then provide your own web pages and also have e-mail addresses set up on our central e-mail and groupware system.

There are many top-level domains available (TLDs - e.g. .de, .com, .org, .net, .eu etc.); please ask for individual availability.

There is a one-time fee for registration, and an annual fee for maintenance. If you are interested, please contact bitter by mail to support@rz.tu-clausthal.de.

The computer centre operates a university-wide content management system (CMS). Webhosting in TUC layout is offered for the institutes and facilities, which also includes domain administration.

As a user you get access to the Typo3 backend of the website via a corresponding account. Typo3 allows even inexperienced users without knowledge of the underlying technology and programming to easily manage website content. With the help of templates and layout specifications provided by the computer centre, you can design the structure of the website and insert and maintain content. The editorial manual is intended to make your work in Typo3 easier and to show you the possibilities and guidelines for creating and editing pages.

The data center offers the possibility to provide static web pages on a Linux Apache server. This allows users to create and manage their own websites in HTML. A common and usually preferable alternative is the use of Typo3 for website design (see Web and Content Management Systems).

Server housing is used to accommodate IT systems from TUC institutes in the central machine room of the data centre. We take particular care of the power supply, installation in 19" racks, connection to the IT network infrastructure and air conditioning. Adequate security is provided with facilities for fire protection, burglary protection, access control and building surveillance. The administration of the systems is carried out by the applying employee of the respective facility.

In addition, the data center operates servers in a distributed VMware infrastructure (ESX server). You can apply for the creation of virtual machines with the operating system Windows Server as well as Ubuntu- or Debian-Linux.

The service can be applied for at the computer centre by the head of the institution using an application form, providing technical data and a contact person. The agreement is valid for an initial period of 3 years and is free of charge for institutions of Clausthal University of Technology.
